The end of the year is a time for pause, years are slices of time, said Carlos Drummond de Andrade, and the slice where we pass the spatula is the gap, it is the pause, it is the silence.

Hormone Yoga Therapy from the point of view of those who practice it.

Ivanete G. S.

Aluna | Rondópolis, MT

I'm Ivanete G., 36 years old, and was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis in 2020. At the beginning of 2022, I started practicing Yoga with teacher A. B. R., a wonderful and dedicated professional. It was through her that I discovered Hormone Yoga Therapy. I started YTH with one weekly in-person class, with the goal of controlling my thyroid hormones. After 8 weeks, I was able to practice at home alone because the practice consists of quick and easy exercises that are memorable. There is a sequence to be followed that allowed me greater body flexibility, reduced stress, improved body posture, regulated my menstrual cycle, and the most recent test already indicated control of my thyroid hormones (T3 and T4). Today, I practice YTH at home 2 to 3 times a week, between 30 and 40 minutes. I chose to continue with one in-person class per week because I am a fan of A.'s work. I have more energy and disposition for my daily tasks. Gratitude to Dinah Rodrigues for the technique that transformed my life and also to my yoga teacher for introducing me to the practice. My name is Âna Célia Bossardi Premaor, I live in Caxias do Sul, RS. I discovered Hormonal Yoga by chance. I was researching menopause symptoms and saw hormonal yoga classes. Curious, I looked into it and started. I was irritable, sleeping poorly, and always tired. My teacher is L. C.; I've been taking online classes for two years. I feel more energetic, less achy, I've gotten to know myself better, and I've even reduced my thyroid medication. They say here: "Mom is empowered, lol..." A reflection of my well-being.
I continue to practice. I'm 56 years old.
Big hug, gratitude.
Peace in my heart.

How I Discovered the Hormonally Yoga Therapy (HYT) Method I read an article about it in an old wellness magazine and became very interested due to the potential benefits for those going through the climacteric and menopausal periods (that was the headline of the article, which is why it caught my attention!). From there, I looked for more information online, watched videos of Professor Dinah Rodrigues, bought her book, and began studying the method. I discovered HYT when I was 47 years old. Since I was approaching the age when climacteric and menopause typically begin, I became interested in the potential benefits of the method for overall well-being and the natural production of female hormones. I wasn’t experiencing intense symptoms, but I had noticed my sleep was no longer as restful, and I occasionally felt hot flashes—especially at night. I read Professor Dinah's book and began some self-guided practice, but since I had no prior experience with Yoga, I was hesitant to continue on my own. So I searched online for teachers (it was early 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic) and found Professor M.P., who had extensive experience with the method, including in training other teachers. I contacted her, and we planned a series of six online one-on-one classes so I could learn the method properly. The classes were held once a week, and between sessions, I would practice what I had learned. After six weeks, I felt confident enough to continue practicing on my own. Because the method follows a consistent sequence—like a kind of choreography—the sessions with Professor M. were essential for me to feel safe with the postures, breathing techniques, and movements. Since then, I’ve been practicing regularly on my own. A few months later, I took a few more group classes with her to review and make sure I was doing everything correctly. HYT has done me a lot of good—not only as a regular physical activity but also in easing the early symptoms I had started to experience. Today, my sleep has returned to how it used to be, and the hot flashes I was beginning to feel are completely gone. It’s been a year since I started the practice, and I’ve been keeping a consistent routine of three times per week. I’m now 49 years old. According to my recent hormone tests, there are still no signs of menopause. Warm regards, Cristina Dai Prá Martens

I learned about the method through a friend much younger than me. I became interested because I wanted to stop taking hormone replacement therapy, but I was afraid of experiencing the discomforts of menopause. I had already stopped two years earlier and experienced mood swings, dry skin both externally and internally, and low libido. Like my friend, I decided to buy the book. After starting to read it, I felt the need for a teacher to show me how to do the exercises. M. P. helped me a lot in this regard. When I started, I had already stopped taking hormone replacement therapy. I started doing it every other day, but I felt the difference after doing it every day for two months. Then I discovered that a good friend my age also does it. Nowadays, I do it at least four times a week for 30 to 40 minutes. I notice that if I do it after meditation, I concentrate more and thus I get through it faster. I'm using only a hormone-free vaginal cream. I recommend YTH to all the women I meet who talk about menopause problems. I'm a huge fan!!! Kisses, Rosária Russo

I discovered Hormone Yoga Therapy while searching online, discovered we have an extraordinary Brazilian woman, and contacted her. It's an honor to have access to this method. I was 45 years old and initially sought it out to take good care of my thyroid and eliminate symptoms of fatigue and lack of vitality. But then I discovered that the YTH method offers many more benefits, and today I do it for myself, for my quality of life, and to be with wonderful people. The learning process is so peaceful, respectful, and very affectionate. What I'd most like to share were the immediate physiological effects I felt in my ovaries and thyroid. After practicing, I felt a mild, pleasant cramp that told me my ovaries were happy, and my thyroid became more vital. I woke up feeling well, without any headaches, and my TSH levels decreased after a few months of continuous practice. Benefits: joy, vitality, health, pleasure in aging, gratitude. I continue and will always practice. Enjoying excellent company and exceptional practices that I wish everyone had access to. Paty Dupin

I learned about YTH through my husband's urologist, who was already familiar with Professor Dinah Rodrigues' work and advised us to buy her book and start practicing. At the end of 2018, I participated in a workshop with Professor M. P. I was 62 years old at the time. I took in-person classes between late 2018 and June 2019. I sought out YTH mainly to minimize the effects of menopause and also to improve my well-being. I resumed classes in January 2021 online, still with Professor M. P., and I continue with the classes and the exercises. I am 65 years old and I have noticed that the practice brings me well-being and balance between my body and mind. Very grateful! Leonor Ap. My name is Marcia, I'm 53 years old, and I'm here to share my experience with the Hormone Yoga Therapy method. Eight years ago, I needed to have my uterus removed and I sought out L.S. to practice the method. It was great; I had a completely normal life; my ovaries are functioning. Now, at 53, I'm feeling the effects of menopause, and we're resuming classes. I'm feeling much better. I was very hesitant about using medication, but now I'm at peace with my choice. I'm feeling like my old self, and that's wonderful. Through self-sustaining effort and discipline, I've managed to regain my pre-menopausal state. So, I can only be grateful for this method and hope that more and more women can use it. Namaste.

Through my yoga course at Montanha Encantada, I learned about teacher Dinah Rodrigues' YTH technique. I was very interested in learning about the practice, as I was experiencing the discomforts of menopause, so I enrolled in the YTH teacher training course in 2018, at which point I had already been through menopause for nine years. After the course, I began my personal YTH practice and began to feel more energetic in my daily life, my libido improved significantly, as did the vaginal dryness. I maintained the four-day practice and noticed several benefits, curing my constipation and throat secretion problems that I had suffered for many years. Practicing YTH was fundamental to improving my overall health, and today, at 63, I feel youthful, energetic, and healthy. I can only thank Dinah Rodrigues for providing healing and health to so many women. Always grateful! Melice Sobel

"...The exercises are easy to memorize. I do them by heart. Today, at 50 years old, I continue to practice and try to do them up to 5 times a week. When I practice, I feel a lightness and even joy for doing something so healthy and important to contribute to my well-being and to have a full life."

"... Actually, YTH found me through a friend who is a hormonal Yoga Therapist. I am a person who learned to take care of myself before letting the problem arrive! As always, I saw close friends and even women in my family suffering from menopause, I wanted to “get ahead” with some “natural” solution for this! I am very grateful to my Yoga Therapist for always insisting on continuing and to Dinah for having shown us a great way to achieve natural health."

"I decided to take the course because Dinah Rodrigues is a leading figure in this field. My Yoga Therapist has a firm, extremely didactic, and loving approach. I learned the entire method and the importance of consistent practice to achieve the desired results."
